What is form 8889-t?
Form 8889-Tis the TurboTax designated form where the taxpayer would report the activity on his Health Savings Account (HAS). The spouse's activity would be reported on Form 8889-S in TurboTax. They are used because both the taxpayer and spouse can each have a HSA.
The IRS form is just the Form 8889.

What is form 8889-t?
Hi, I am trying to help my friend with his taxes. Turbotax is INSISTING we complete 8889-T but we literally have no information whatsoever to complete 8889-T. All we know is box 12 on his two W-2s adds up to $700. We have no record of any background to this $700. We do not even know who paid it or if it was spent or not. How do we proceed?

What is form 8889-t?
I am trying to E-file my 2019 taxes and I keep getting a message that I need form 8889 and 8995 and that they are not available. I clicked on the link with questions and a list comes up that shows the forms are available for online. I go on to update my software and nothing comes down. I did have an HSA withdrawal so I understand the possible need for that but the other form is some kind of business deduction that I don't have any need for. When will I be able to file or can I proceed without these two forms?

You must be using the Windows or Mac CD/download software. When you try to update your software, I assume that it tells you that it is all up to date, when it obviouslyis not (those forms have been available for months).
Please re-install your TurboTax software, then click on Online (at the top left) and Check for Updates to see if it will update this time.
If that does not update your software, please see this TurboTax FAQ.
